To scale our current impact, ASU Prep is advancing a major expansion program taking fundamental responsibility for the communities we serve.The Assistant Director of IT Service Management provides broad technical expertise while maintaining compliance with FERPA, COPPA, and state data‑privacy requirements.This is a technical manager role that supervises other technical staff, coordinates major technology initiatives, manages vendor relationships, and ensures projects align with district goals and instructional needs.QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s Degree Preferred or Associates Degree with 5 years of technical experience and at least three years of supervisory experience in an Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.Excellent technical and troubleshooting skills.Excellent communication and collaboration skillsIndustry certifications preferred (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate; Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate;Google Cloud - Associate Cloud Engineer, CCNA or above, CEH, CISSP )Active AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Expertise in Google Workspace for Education.Understanding of LAN/WAN and experience with configuration, monitoring, and management of routers, switches, wireless, and DNS.Technology generalist who can help with overarching architecture and infrastructure needs.Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, and Azure)Cyber security by design focused mindset.Overall understanding of IAM principles.Overall understanding of the roles of applications such as SIS, Classlink, Canvas, Workday, Salesforce, and Endpoint Management to be able to effectively interface and manage application managers for these areas.Excellent troubleshooting skills to assist in the diagnosing and resolving of complex technical issues and the ability to mentor others.At least two years of successful supervisory experience of technical teams.Aligning technology initiatives with district goals and instructional needs.Leading cross-functional teams for technology rollouts.Managing timelines, resources, and vendor relationships.Writing clear documentation and professional emails.Data-based decision-making.Knowledge of FERPA, COPPA, and state-specific data privacy laws.Creating SOPs and other documentation.Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.Translating technical concepts for educators, administrators, and parents.Evaluating and integrating new tools (AI, EdTech platforms) responsibly.Staying current with trends in educational technology.Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by operational needsSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include decisions related to selection, performance appraisal, discipline and salary recommendations.Build strong and empowered teams by providing direction, delegation, counsel, mentoring and expertise to individual team leads, while retaining overall responsibility and accountability for results.Promote and encourage the development, training and promotion of staff members to ensure the perpetuation of a professional and competent workforce.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Expertise in Google Workspace for Education administration, collaboration tools, and security.Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN networking, including configuration, monitoring, and management of routers, switches, wireless infrastructure, and DNS.Broad understanding of enterprise IT architecture and infrastructure, serving as a technology generalist across systems.Familiarity with cloud environments, including AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Microsoft Azure.Cybersecurity-by-design mindset with knowledge of risk management, defense-in-depth, and secure system architecture.Understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM) principles, including authentication, authorization, and role-based access control.Functional understanding of educational and enterprise applications such as endpoint management, SIS platforms, ClassLink, Canvas, Workday, and Salesforce, and their roles within an integrated technology ecosystem.Knowledge of FERPA, COPPA, and applicable state and federal data privacy and compliance regulations, with the ability to ensure ongoing compliance.Excellent technical troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure, security, and application issues.Proven ability to mentor, coach, and supervise technical staff, including a minimum of two years of successful supervisory experience.Ability to align technology initiatives with district goals and instructional needs.Experience leading cross-functional teams for technology rollouts and major initiatives.Strong project management skills, including managing timelines, resources, budgets, and vendor relationships.Demonstrated data-driven decision-making skills.Ability to create clear documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical guides, and professional correspondence.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for educators, administrators, and parents.Ability to evaluate and responsibly integrate new and emerging technologies, including AI and educational technology platforms.Commitment to staying current with trends in educational technology and IT operations.Flexibility to perform additional duties as assigned.Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends as required by operational needs.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
