Join The Spice & Tea Exchange® as a Sales Associate, where you will help create a welcoming and engaging Guest experience  while sharing our unique selection of spices, teas, blends, salts, sugars, and related products. This entry-level role is centered on  the selling floor—engaging Guests, learning and sharing product knowledge, processing transactions, and keeping the store  stocked, clean, organized, and inviting. In this role, you directly support our mission of Creating & Sharing the Experience of a More Flavorful Life® by helping Guests  explore flavors, discover products that fit their needs, and enjoy a memorable in-store experience. 

Responsibilities 
A Sales Associate will be expected to: 

• Warmly welcome and engage Guests, creating a friendly and enjoyable in-store experience 
• Learn about our products and confidently assist Guests with questions, product uses, and recommendations 
• Listen to Guest needs and suggest products and complementary items that help create a more complete shopping  experience 
• Accurately process purchases and other approved transactions using the point-of-sale (POS) system 
• Maintain stock levels throughout the selling floor by replenishing shelves, tables, displays, and product containers as needed 
• Help maintain product placement, pricing, labeling, and merchandising, including refreshing displays to keep the store  organized and shoppable 
• Maintain a clean, safe, and inviting Guest environment through routine cleaning and daily store upkeep
• Follow established store procedures and complete required product and operational training 
• Assist with basic blending, packaging, stocking, and other store responsibilities as needed 
• Perform other store-related duties as assigned by the Owner, Manager, or Supervisor on duty 

Requirements 

• High School Diploma or equivalent 
• Friendly, approachable disposition and comfort engaging with Guests in a retail environment 
• Willingness and ability to learn product information and share that knowledge with Guests 
• Strong communication and listening skills 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while balancing Guest needs and assigned store tasks • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable transportation to meet scheduled shifts

Preferred Skills 

• Previous customer service, retail, hospitality, restaurant, or other customer-facing experience 
• Interest in cooking, food, tea, flavor, or culinary products 
• Comfort using basic technology and point-of-sale systems 
• Ability to use basic math skills for transactions, measuring ingredients, reading scales, and following recipes 
• Adaptability and willingness to shift priorities based on Guest and store needs 

Physical Demands 

• Regular use of kitchen tools to support basic blending and product preparation as needed 
• Ability to remain on your feet and actively maneuver throughout retail, stockroom, and production areas for approximately  95% of the workday, including extended periods of standing and walking, as well as frequent bending, twisting, reaching,  stooping, squatting, and lifting 
• Frequent lifting and moving of products weighing up to 50 lbs. 
• Constant exposure to a variety of spice and tea aromas, including airborne particles and ingredients that may contain or come into contact with common food allergens
