Qualifications A Master in Nursing degree is required; a Doctorate is preferred (required for the academic rank of Associate Professor ). Eligible for membership on undergraduate faculty. Unencumbered licensure status as an RN or APRN in the state of Louisiana; or eligibility for Louisiana licensure. At least three (3) years of clinical nursing experience. At least three (3) years of nurse educator experience preferred. Must be able to pass a background check and meet the required standards defined by the University. Teaching Duties (50%) Teach all classes in a manner that will promote academic excellence to the fullest extent. Provide instruction in areas of expertise. Utilize a variety of teaching strategies appropriate to the domain of learning. Serve as a role model to students and peers. Assist with development, evaluation and revision of curriculum, policies, and procedures within the College of Nursing. Maintain required office hours. Maintain good attendance. Supervise and evaluate student learning experiences. Advising (10%) Serve as an advisor and mentor for students in the College of Nursing. Advise students interested in the program and those currently in the program regarding the curriculum and APDG requirements. Administrative Duties (10%) Attend College of Nursing and/or University functions and committee meetings as assigned. Demonstrate knowledge of the College of Nursing goals and objectives. Assist with maintenance of records and files pertinent to the College of Nursing. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with federal laws and program policy. Serve as a liaison between the College of Nursing and other University departments as well as local, state, and national agencies and professional organizations. Scholarly Activities (10%) Actively participate in scholarly activities and other creative activities, such as scholarly research; writing books, book chapters, and/or articles; podium or poster presentations. Service (10%) Recruit students to programs within the College of Nursing and School of Allied Health. Participate in activities that promote the College of Nursing, including those that may occur in the evenings, out of town and on the weekend. Professional Development (5%) Maintain appropriate expertise and competencies through continuing professional education, and development and pursuit of scholarly activities.
