We are looking for a Nocturnist Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Hospitalist team during overnight shifts. This newly created role provides an exciting opportunity to influence workflows and enhance patient care from the outset.

• Respond to nursing inquiries and immediate patient needs.

• Address changes in patient status and acute issues.
• Collaborate effectively with Hospitalists and nursing staff.

The Nurse Practitioner will work alongside physicians as needed to confirm diagnoses, identify high-risk situations, and respond to changes in patient conditions. This role involves administering medications and performing procedures within the defined scope of practice. Additionally, the NP will provide education to patients and their families, ensuring appropriate follow-up care or referrals to other healthcare resources.

• Educate patients and their families based on individual conditions, identifying needs to enhance understanding. Provide counseling on health maintenance and disease management.
• Gather comprehensive medical histories, conduct physical assessments, and initiate admission orders as necessary.
• Manage medical interventions for both acute and chronic health issues.
• Develop and implement care plans, performing procedures aligned with the Advanced Practitioner's qualifications. Refer patients to specialists or therapists when appropriate to ensure continuity of care.
• Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies to assess treatment effectiveness, promptly notifying patients of results. Collaborate with physicians to confirm diagnoses and address any high-risk situations.
• Write prescription orders in accordance with established protocols.
• Act as a liaison and resource for physicians, healthcare team members, patients, and their families.
• Engage in health promotion and preventive care initiatives for the organization and the surrounding community.
• Perform additional duties as required to support departmental and organizational needs.

• Certification:
  • Nurse Practitioner certification from the North Dakota Board of Nursing (NDBON) or a Compact State Agreement, required before the start date.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record, required before the start date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), to be obtained within 90 days of starting.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications from the AHA are preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is required.
• Language Skills: Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is essential for effective communication with patients, families, and team members.
