Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) - Functional/Benign Conditions Radiation Therapy Program The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant/Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) - Functional/Benign Conditions Radiation Therapy Program to support an emerging area within radiation oncology focused on expanding the therapeutic use of radiation beyond traditional cancer treatment. This program provides care for patients with functional and benign conditions, including conditions exacerbated by cancer therapy, while emphasizing symptom relief, functional improvement, multidisciplinary collaboration, and clinical innovation. UT MD Anderson is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. The Advanced Practice Provider will work closely with faculty and multidisciplinary partners to manage patients throughout the treatment continuum. The Advanced Practice Provider will also contribute to program development, care coordination, education, outcomes tracking, and clinical innovation as the program continues to grow. The ideal candidate will have preferred experience as a Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with at least two years of outpatient experience, preferably in oncology, with radiation oncology experience highly desired. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, emotional intelligence, collaboration, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment while contributing to program growth and innovation. Minimum $56.49/hour - Midpoint $70.43/hour - Maximum $84.86/hour Why Us?

Clinical Care • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical examinations • Evaluate patients before, during, and after radiation therapy treatment • Manage radiation-related symptoms and treatment toxicities • Develop and implement treatment and supportive care plans • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies and consultations • Serve as a primary point of contact for patients and families throughout treatment Patient Navigation & Care Coordination • Facilitate timely patient evaluation and access to care • Coordinate simulation appointments, treatment planning, treatment delivery, and follow-up visits • Develop and utilize customized dashboards to support care coordination opportunities • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care plans • Assist with referral review and patient triage activities • Ensure an exceptional patient experience through seamless care coordination Program Development & Innovation • Participate in the continued growth of the Functional/Benign Radiation Therapy Program • Help develop outreach strategies, clinical pathways, referral criteria, and operational workflows • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, quality, and patient outcomes • Assist in building infrastructure for outcomes tracking and program evaluation • Partner with faculty and program leaders to support expansion of program services Research & Quality Improvement • Contribute to clinical research initiatives focused on benign conditions treated with radiation therapy • Participate in patient registry activities, outcomes monitoring, and protocol-based care • Support data analysis and publication efforts when desired • Apply evidence-based practices to support program growth and clinical excellence Education & Leadership • Educate patients and families regarding treatment expectations, symptom management, and recovery • Serve as a clinical resource for colleagues and staff • Support orientation and mentoring of Advanced Practice Providers and other team members as appropriate EDUCATION Required: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice. May be waived for applicants who obtained recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Texas State Board of Nursing prior to 1/1/2003. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. Physician Assistant Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), except for Physician Assistants who graduated from a PA program prior to 2013. EXPERIENCE Preferred: One year of experience in Advanced Practice Provider role. LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION Required: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse All of the following: Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN or ACNP or ACNPC or ACAGNP or AGACNP or ACNPC-AG or AGACNP or AGNP or ACPNP or ANP or AGNP or AGPCNP or FNP or GNP or PNP or PMHNP or WHNP or APNP). Related authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. Basic Life Support (BLS). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) If working in the following departments: Pediatric - Patient Care (113100). MAY BE REQUIRED: Authorization for limited prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing. Physician Assistant All of the following: PA certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners. MAY BE REQUIRED: Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas. Must meet the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) , ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) if working in one of following department: Pediatrics - Patient Care (113100).
