Director of R&D, Applications and Testing

Cytiva, a Danaher operating company, seeks a Director of R&D, Applications and Testing to lead a global applications organization translating customer needs into scientific capability and business impact. The role is based in Marlborough, Massachusetts and reports to the VP of R&D&E within the Upstream and Fluid Management team.
Responsibilities
- Lead approximately 20 applications associates across three geographies with clear priorities and talent development
- Build partnerships with customers, field applications, commercial, and R&D teams to align technical priorities with business strategy
- Provide scientific leadership for upstream applications with emphasis on cell culture and process understanding
- Manage cross-functional stakeholder relationships and represent applications perspective in business forums
- Cultivate organizational culture emphasizing customer focus, scientific rigor, and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related scientific discipline
- Progressive leadership experience in life sciences, biotechnology, or bioprocessing industries
- Experience leading global multi-region organizations with people leaders and senior technical contributors
- Direct technical expertise in upstream bioprocessing, cell culture, and related manufacturing technologies
- Experience collaborating with customers, commercial teams, and field applications organizations
- Demonstrated success operating in matrixed, cross-functional environments across R&D and commercial functions
- Background working within regulated product development, stage-gate processes, or quality management systems
Compensation: $190,000-$220,000 base, plus bonus/incentive pay eligibility
