Health Physicist

A well-established manufacturer in the radiochemistry/isotope production space is seeking a Health Physicist to support radiation safety and compliance across laboratory and production operations. This is a hands‑on role reporting to the Radiation Safety Officer, with heavy involvement in dose assessment, waste handling, and regulatory program management. Core Responsibilities Provide radiological surveillance support for production activities under special radiological work permits Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable federal and state radiation safety regulations Serve as a point of contact with regulatory agencies and inspectors Manage laboratory wastewater processing and associated permitting Collect, prepare, package, and assay radioactive waste for disposal; coordinate waste disposal shipments Process receipt of radioactive materials and returns, maintaining accurate tracking records Calculate and evaluate internal and external radiation doses for employees, visitors, and members of the public Conduct radiological assessments of lab operations and recommend dose‑reduction improvements Develop, review, and maintain Health Physics and Safety Program procedures Monitor radiological protection, Cal/OSHA, and internal hygiene programs Deliver employee radiation safety training Maintain, repair, and calibrate survey instruments Conduct inventory and leak testing of sealed sources Maintain Health Physics recordkeeping Requirements BS in Health Physics or related field, with radiological laboratory experience (2 to 3 years minimum); Master's degree with relevant experience preferred Comprehensive working knowledge of radiation safety laws and regulations Hands‑on experience with Geiger counters, ion chambers, and other radiation control instrumentation Experience analyzing radioactive samples via ion chamber and liquid scintillation equipment Background in radiation safety surveys, dose calculations, and effluent analyses Strong math, written, and verbal communication skills Self‑starter, comfortable working independently in a fast‑paced environment #J-18808-Ljbffr Precision Point
