Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Location: Janesville, WI (Onsite)

Employment Type: Direct Hire (Full-Time)

Compensation

• Mechanic C: $28.53/hr

• After 60-Day Evaluation:

• Mechanic B: $32.68/hr

• Mechanic A: $35.69/hr

• Overtime available during peak production

• Large-scale food manufacturing facility (~1,000,000 sq ft, ~400 employees)

• Highly automated environment with strong use of Allen-Bradley PLC systems

• Products include peas, corn, carrots, beans, potatoes, and pouch packaging

Overview

This role supports maintenance and repair of high-speed food production equipment in a fast-paced, uptime-driven environment. The plant operates on a seasonal production cycle, requiring flexibility and strong performance during peak periods. Mechanics are responsible for troubleshooting issues, completing repairs, and supporting preventative maintenance across the facility.

Hiring Process

• All candidates start at Mechanic C at $28.53/hr

• First 60 days are a working evaluation period on day shift

• After evaluation:

• Placed into Mechanic A, B, or remain at C level

• Advancement based on performance, not tenure

Schedule

• Training Period:

• 6:00am – 2:30pm

• Post-Training (based on seniority):

• 2nd Shift: 2:00pm – 10:30pm

• 3rd Shift: 10:00pm – 6:30am

• Plant attempts to honor preference, but seniority determines placement

Seasonality

• Pack Season:

• 10–12 hour shifts

• Rotating days with limited time off

• High production demand

• Off Season:

• 8 hour shifts

• Monday–Friday schedule

• Schedules change based on production needs

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair on food processing and packaging equipment

• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and restore equipment quickly

• Complete preventative maintenance and inspections

• Maintain conveyors, motors, pumps, and gearboxes

• Support uptime during production

• Assist with rebuilds and equipment improvements

• Follow safety, GMP, and plant procedures

Required Experience

• Industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability

• Experience with conveyors, motors, pumps, and gearboxes

• Ability to work extended hours during peak production

Preferred Experience

• Electrical troubleshooting and PLC exposure (Allen-Bradley)

• Food or beverage manufacturing experience

• Welding or fabrication experience
