Role Description

The Senior Tax Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Manhattan, KS, responsible for leading complex tax engagements and overseeing tax compliance and planning for a diverse portfolio of clients. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing and reviewing individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary tax returns, monitoring filing deadlines, and ensuring adherence to current tax laws and regulations. The role involves advising clients on tax strategies, identifying opportunities for tax savings, and communicating technical concepts in a clear, practical manner. The Senior Tax Manager will supervise and mentor tax staff, coordinate workflow, support staff development, and contribute to the refinement of internal processes and best practices. This position also assists with business development activities, participates in client meetings, and collaborates with partners and other service teams to deliver integrated advisory solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong tax compliance skills, including Tax Compliance and Tax Preparation, with experience reviewing complex returns.
• Advanced tax planning skills, including Tax Planning and Tax strategy development for individuals and businesses.
• In-depth technical knowledge of Tax Law and Tax regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply guidance accurately.
• Broad understanding of Tax concepts across federal, state, and local jurisdictions, and exposure to multi-entity structures.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required; Master’s degree in Taxation or related field preferred.
• Several years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, including prior supervisory or management responsibilities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage multiple engagements, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with a client-focused and ethical approach to practice.
• Proficiency with tax preparation and research software, and strong general technology skills (e.g., Excel, accounting platforms).
