Contract Duration: up to 4 Months (Full-time workload equivalent, approx. 40 hours/week)

Schedule: Flexible hours; jobsite is a high school and may require evening hours to avoid disruption

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, California-licensed Lead Locksmith for a full-time contract role. This position involves managing a large on-site locksmithing project, overseeing a team of up to 3 technicians, and performing technical locksmith services across a commercial setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, delegate tasks to, and direct a crew of up to 3 technicians to ensure quality workmanship and timely completion of tasks.
• Perform high-level locksmith duties, including rekeying, master key system design, hardware installation (mortise, cylindrical, panic bars), electronic access control setup, and lockouts.
• Ensure all team members adhere to job site safety guidelines and California regulatory standards.
• Inspect completed work for accuracy, functionality, and compliance.
• Adapt schedule and staffing assignments based on project needs and varying daily timelines.
• Manage equipment, hardware inventory, and documentation for key control systems on site.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Licensing: Active, valid C-28 License.
• Insurance: Must carry valid general liability insurance
• Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years as a professional locksmith, with demonstrated experience in a lead or supervisory role.
• 1099 Status: Must operate as an independent contractor with a valid W-9, reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and standard professional toolkit.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, or weekends as job demands dictate.
• Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform fine-motor tasks with manual dexterity.
