Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/21/2026 Duration: 14 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Requirements: Active RN license in state of practice (or compact license as applicable) BSN preferred; ADN accepted per facility policy BLS certification required; ACLS preferred depending on facility CMSRN (Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse) preferred 1 years of Med-Surg experience required Ability to manage a diverse patient caseload with varying diagnoses and acuity levels Duties: Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in patient condition, escalating care as needed Administer medications and treatments per physician orders Manage pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients, including wound care and pain management Coordinate care for patients with chronic and acute conditions, including diabetes, cardiac, and respiratory diagnoses Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and interdisciplinary team on plan of care and discharge planning Educate patients and families on condition, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient response in the EMR Manage a typical patient load of 4-6 patients per shift (varies by facility and acuity) Ensure infection control and fall prevention protocols are followed BHS Workforce Job ID 37987174.
