The Principal Structural Engineer will be able to evaluate, select, and specify engineered systems or products for a project. Mentor existing staff and work with them to create an appropriate career path and to track their growth.Participate in the development, dissemination and implementation of a business plan.Your Capabilities and CredentialsRequisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codesStrong knowledge of structural systems, seismic and wind design, construction means and methods, materials, and industry standardsDeep understanding and working knowledge the following building systems: steel framing including lateral systems for seismic (braced frames, BRBF, SPSW, etc.), concrete framing including lateral systems for seismic (shear walls and moment frames), wood framing, timber.Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form concepts and ideas to a diverse audience of Architects, Engineers, and Owner clients effectivelyAbility to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and scheduleAbility to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thoughtExperience with modeling software (Autodesk Revit)Experience with general business software (Microsoft Office suite)Experience with industry standard Structural Engineering software (CSI, RISA, RAM, etc.)Experience with Big Room meetings and HCAI design experience is required.Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.Education and Experience15+ years of related experienceBachelor’s degree in engineering is required, Master’s degree preferredProfessional Engineering (PE) and Structural Engineering (SE) license is required.Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
