Job Title: OR Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Full-Time Days Hours per Shift: 32 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: RN License required Certifications: None specified Must-Have: One year of surgical experience; Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Description: Position Highlights: Type: OR Nurse Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday Responsibilities: Perform the perioperative nursing role including preoperative assessment of the patient. Formulate nursing care plans. Implement operative care plans. Evaluate postoperative outcomes and patient responses. Evaluate the effectiveness and appropriateness of nursing care provided, documenting accordingly. Assist in the setup and performance of surgical cases by assembling equipment and supplies according to sterile technique. Open sterile packs, instruments, and supplies for surgery per sterile technique. Prepare patients for surgery by positioning them appropriately and preparing the operative site. Confirm the procedure and site with the surgical team. Assist with patient transportation to and from the operating table. Perform surgical counts (sponges, sharps, and instruments), documenting nursing care on legal records. Assist in the cleanup of the operating room following surgery. Ensure proper disposal of used supplies and sharps.
