About the Position

Clinical review and auto offer for a 26 Bed, Acute Care Unit with a diverse patient population. The unit primarily consists of general surgery and trauma patients. Post-surgical patients make up 90% of the unit, with the remaining 10% having medical diagnoses. All rooms are capable of cardiac monitoring, capnography, and continuous pulse oximetry. Scheduled for 36 or 48 hours per week. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated or guaranteed. Every other weekend and every other holiday required. Must work 2 out of the 3 winter holidays. Must adhere to float policies. Ability to float to other acute care units as needed. Patient ratios are typically 1:4, occasionally 1:5, with the support of a free-float charge RN. The unit requires management skills in ventilation and oxygen therapy. Diverse patient diagnoses include trauma, emergency general surgery, surgical oncology, ENT, and plastic surgery. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. The unit has strong clinical support 7 days a week for wound care and ostomy needs. Daily census averages around 22 patients, with a maximum capacity of 26. Nurses are supported by monitor technicians and do not need to verify telemetry strips. Unit staffing includes certified nursing assistants and clinical nurse specialists. Experience in trauma care preferred. Travel experience required. Educational background in nursing is preferred.
