Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medicine Specialty Step Down Unit position in Oklahoma City, OK, requiring at least one year of Med/Surg or Step Down experience and an active OK or compact RN license.

• Hospital-based Medicine Specialty Step Down Unit
• Variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
• Med/Surg or Step Down (SD) experience required; ICU experience preferred
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required; all certifications must be AHA-issued
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required
• Med/Surg or Step Down experience required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
• Proficiency in organizing, planning, and evaluating nursing care
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients, documenting responses to nursing interventions and changes in physician orders
• Assists physicians during examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
• Monitors and responds to physiological data; administers medications and manages IV infusions and blood products
• Educates patients and families on care plans and hospital procedures; coordinates referrals and delegates tasks to support staff
• Travelers who have previously worked at this facility may only extend once for a total of 26 weeks; a 6-month separation period is required before being eligible for a subsequent contract
• Compliance with onboarding requirements (drug screens, background checks, medical requirements) is strictly enforced and must begin immediately upon booking
