Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years preferred License: Valid state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: ICU experience, willingness to float Description: Must have ICU experience. Traveler will be floated to ICU. Floating required across step down, ICU, and medical-surgical units. Patient ratio is 1:4-5. Travel experience preferred. Scrubs should be royal blue and white. Orientation is required every other week. Unit consists of 21 beds. Non-titrating drips include Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, and Cardene. Common patient diagnoses include CHF, COPD, respiratory failure, pneumonia, post-cardiac catheterization, cardiac arrhythmias, CIWA, chest pain, NSTEMI, AKI, PE, hemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis. Special procedures involve post-cardiac catheterization, femoral-popliteal bypass, and carotid endarterectomy. Required skills include accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and cardiac telemetry. Experience with telemetry monitoring is essential. Expect to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff. There is a high patient-to-caregiver ratio and frequent floating. This position will float within the facility only. References will be required during compliance. Candidates must be 1 year removed from prior employment and in good standing at the time of departure. Modules are completed prior to start and may be done during orientation. Modules are self-reported.
