Contracts & Compliance Specialist

Summary of Duties:

RK Industries growing rapidly and seeking an experienced Compliance and Contracts Specialistto be an integral part of the corporate legal team. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in-house as a contracts and compliance specialist in the construction industry, and enjoy working with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. You will embrace challenges and seek to solve problems with good judgment and a positive approach. You should be comfortable working independently and owning projects from start to finish.  

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manages all aspects of contractor licensing and specialty licenses for all RK subsidiaries across multiple state and local jurisdictions, from researching regulatory requirements, submitting applications and monitoring compliance requirements and renewal applications.
• Statutory and Regulatory research of licensing requirements, and advise internal business groups on regulatory and compliance requirements
• Create and Manage a database of all licenses for use by RK’s internal business units
• Manages corporate compliance functions includingdrafting, filing and managing various business entity documents for corporations, LLCs and joint ventures/partnerships with State agencies 
• Be a resource for legal and cross-functional teams on matters relating to RK’s corporate governance, with an interest in looking for opportunities to improve processes, and a willingness to take on ad hoc projects as needed 
• Create a system to organize and maintain corporate records and contract documents and conduct due diligence reviews 
• Support General Counsel and Associate General Counsel in negotiations of contracts; facilitates the participation of reviewers and approvers, both internally and externally.
• Oversees preparation, naming conventions, and receiving of contracts, routes contracts both internally and externally, tracks status of contract through review and execution process; and requests bonds and insurance as necessary.
• Monitors and calendars contractual deadlines, including option deadlines, expiring or auto-renewing contracts, and expiring statutory deadlines, so as to minimize penalties or forfeiture of opportunities due to inaction.
• Assist Counsel with research and filing of Mechanic’s Lien, Bond Claims, Verified Statement of Claims, and other collection efforts
• Litigation support by conducting claims investigations, legal research, organizing files, discovery requests, and coordinate with outside counsel on information requests
• Assist Risk Manager with insurance claims, insurance policy renewals, and insurance certificate requests
• Essential administrative functions including, but are not limited to: routing vendor invoices and bills, scheduling and calendaring; meeting set-ups; document retention (electronic and paper); filing; performing and coordinating certified mailings;

• Analytical approach to operationalizing compliance requirements

• Critical thinking and analysis regarding matters which can be handled by this individual contributor, or knowing when to involve RK counsel.
• 3+years corporate compliance management of multiple subsidiaries
• 3+ years of knowledge and experience with licensing regulations for construction industry across multiple jurisdictions
• 3+ years’ experience in contract review and document management

• Excellent people and communication skills (verbal and written), with ability to successfully explain complex matters and provide persuasive support for positions with internal stakeholders, outside partners, and to communicate with all levels of the organization
• Able to work independently and manage multiple large tasks simultaneously from and prioritize workload with a strong attention to detail

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, and Outlook), Microsoft and PowerPoint.
• Prompt, punctual, and regular attendance during core business hours, in an office environment, currently located in the Stapleton area of Denver, including a reliable means of transport to and from work. Ability to occasionally to travel between corporate offices and jobsites within the Denver Metro Area, during work hours.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of corporate legal matters, proprietary information, and employee information.
• Bachelor’s Degree, Master Degree or equivalent years of work experience
