Assistant Professor, World Languages

Position Overview Assistant Professor, Spanish/Second Language Pedagogy (Full-time, Faculty - Non-Tenure). Reporting to the Head of the World Languages Department, this position teaches undergraduate Spanish and second-language instruction, develops scholarship, and supports student success. Key Responsibilities Teach all levels of undergraduate Spanish, both in-person and online, for a total of 24 credits per year (12 per semester). Teach asynchronous online second-language instruction courses (TESL/TESOL). Develop an active scholarship and research agenda. Support students outside the classroom: advisor to student organizations, supervise student research, lead international study experiences, and collaborate in other high-impact experiences. Provide service to the department, college, and university. Serve on the editorial board of Azahares, the award-winning departmental literary journal. Participate in recruitment activities and outreach to Latino/Hispanic communities in the area. Contribute to curriculum development in the department. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Ph.D. in Spanish Language, Second Language Pedagogy, TESOL, or related field. Experience working in higher education (preferred). Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English. Proven excellence in teaching. Excellent time-management skills and ability to work well with others. Additional Information Salary: $52,500 per year.
