Job Title: RN Med Surg Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med-surg Adult Duration: 6 months Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 5 years License: Current RN license in good standing Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Minimum of 5 years of Med Surg or Emergency Room experience required. Previous traveler experience required. EHR/EMR experience required. Graduate of an accredited RN program required. Basic computer skills required. Description: An experienced Med Surg RN is needed to provide observation and inpatient care to patients assigned to the Med Surg Unit. The RN is responsible for assessing and prioritizing patient care. Duties include administering nursing care and procedures, monitoring and reassessing patients, documenting assessments and changes in condition, educating patients and families, and collaborating with providers. The RN will support continuity of care to help prevent readmission. Essential responsibilities include providing patient care within the RN scope of practice and in accordance with physician orders. The RN performs comprehensive patient assessments, care planning, nursing interventions, reassessments, and evaluation of care provided. Monitoring for changes in patient condition and reporting abnormal findings is essential. Medications, IV therapy, oxygen therapy, blood products, and other treatments must be administered accurately and in a timely manner. The RN operates infusion pumps and documents accurately in the electronic health record. Required documentation must be completed in accordance with policies and procedures. Age-specific nursing care, including assessment and reassessment of patient condition, is expected. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation, taking appropriate action when needed. Providing patient and family education related to disease process, treatment plans, medications, pain management, wound care, discharge planning, and follow-up care is critical. Care transfers should use appropriate communication formats. Following infection prevention practices and maintaining patient confidentiality are mandatory. The RN will collaborate with providers, staff, and other departments to support interdisciplinary patient care. Serving as a mentor to other nursing staff and supporting continuous learning is encouraged. Work is performed in a hospital setting with exposure to work stress and frequent interruptions. Physical requirements include the ability to perform heavy work, including lifting and assisting with patient movement. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, service excellence, sound judgment, adaptability, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Adherence to facility policies, procedures, safety requirements, confidentiality standards, and department expectations is required.
