Heat Treat AssistantAssists in heat treat applications for titanium, nickel based alloys, stainless, and alloy steels. Assist with the operation, adjustment and routine maintenance of all furnace controllers. Straightens metal plates, weldments, and structural shapes or preheats them preparatory to welding or bending.Duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be required and assigned at any time. Ability to move parts on and off pallets. Ability to read and interpret shop order instructions, specifications and other written and verbal instructions. Load and unload furnaces. Places work piece into heating furnace for specified period of time. Will learn to perform hardness inspection and read conversion table (ASTM E140). Load couple preparation Grinds parts Must have understanding and knowledge of company procedures and work instructions. Maintains a safe and organized workstation and follows all company policy, safety and procedures.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must be certified to operate a forklift to approved O.S.H.A. standards.
