CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER Full Time US 6 days ago Requisition ID: 1025 Salary Range: $180,000.00 To $225,000.00 Annually Compudopt is a national non-profit organization that aims to provide technology access and education to under-resourced youth and their communities. We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead the fundraising efforts of our nonprofit organization. The Chief Development Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies to support our mission and our strategic goals. With an annual operating budget of $20-$36 million, the CDO will focus on securing funding from foundations, corporations, individuals, and securing government grant funds. The position will lead efforts related to federal and state funding opportunities, build strong relationships, and support initiatives that advance digital equity nationwide. This role will be a hybrid or remote work environment and can be home-based in (Houston-TX, Dallas-TX, Chicago-IL, Atlanta-GA). Will be required to travel 40% of the time for specified meetings/events. Major Responsibilities & Duties: Lead, develop, and implement a comprehensive fundraising and multi-year government funding strategy to meet the financial needs of the organization, aligning with the overall mission and strategic goals. Oversee the development and execution of a comprehensive multi-year revenue strategy to grow Compudopt’s Gift-in-Kind technology donation revenue stream by identifying and securing high-value corporate partnerships. Lead, develop, and manage a high-performing development and government team to raise community awareness of the organization and its primary goals through outreach efforts, regular events in the community, publications, and media relations. Identify and cultivate relationships with foundations, corporations, government agencies, and individuals to secure major gifts, grants, and sponsorships to support the organization's programs and initiatives. Stay informed on emerging trends and opportunities related to digital inclusion at the local, state, and federal levels - proactively identifying and pursuing viable prospects that align with the organization’s priorities and funding targets. Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and initiatives, leveraging various fundraising techniques and channels to engage and inspire donors. Drive activity on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis to ensure goals are met, and effective modeling can be deployed. Oversee the management of government grants and contracts, ensuring strict adherence to funding requirements, timely reporting, and compliance with all regulatory obligations. Monitor and evaluate fundraising and government relations activities, analyzing performance data to identify areas for improvement and making necessary adjustments to optimize outcomes. Create and report on activities via gap-to-goal analysis, including win rate and predictive analytics. Collaborate with the executive team, leadership team, and department managers to ensure effective integration of fundraising efforts with organizational priorities and strategies. Stay updated on trends, best practices, and emerging opportunities in fundraising, particularly in the areas of foundation giving, corporate partnerships, and individual donor cultivation. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including board members, donors, community leaders, key policymakers, elected officials, and volunteers, to foster a culture of philanthropy and expand the organization's revenue network. Develop and manage the fundraising budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and utilization to achieve fundraising goals and maintain financial sustainability. Represent the organization at fundraising events, conferences, and community gatherings to promote awareness, build relationships, and attract potential donors. Provide regular reports on fundraising progress and financial status to the CEO and Board of Directors. Proven ability to lead and manage teams, with strong organizational and delegation skills. Build a national fundraising structure that is scalable, sustainable, and successful across Compudopt sites. Recruit, train, and retain top talent in the Development and Government Relations departments. Support other key initiatives as assigned. Qualifications: Required Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as nonprofit management, business administration, or communications). Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in leading successful fundraising efforts in the nonprofit sector, with a strong emphasis on securing funding over $2M per gift from foundations, corporations, and individuals; with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing fundraising efforts, and resource acquisitions to ensure long-term success. Preferred: Master’s degree in a relevant field (such as nonprofit management, business administration, or communications) or a related discipline. 10+ years of relevant experience in leading successful fundraising efforts in the nonprofit sector, with a strong emphasis on securing funding over $3M per gift from foundations, corporations, and individuals; with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role overseeing fundraising efforts, and resource acquisition to ensure long-term success Fundraising experience for a national organization Special Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated track record of personally closing major gifts, grants, and sponsorships from diverse funding sources. In-depth knowledge of fundraising principles, techniques, and best practices, including experience with various fundraising channels such as direct mail, online campaigns, and events. Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and inspire donors, board members, staff, and volunteers. Strong strategic thinking and planning abilities, with the capacity to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies that align with organizational goals. Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and empower a team to achieve fundraising targets. Familiarity with donor management systems and fundraising software to track and analyze donor data and measure fundraising performance. Bloomerang experience preferred. Knowledge of the nonprofit sector, including key trends, challenges, and opportunities in fundraising. Integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
