Caregiver / Direct Support Professional / Wilmington

Position Summary We are hiring a Direct Support Professional in Wilmington. This entry‑level role is an essential member of a care team, helping people with intellectual, developmental disabilities, mental health, and substance use challenges identify and achieve their goals. The position is salaried at $15.00 per hour and includes all shifts. The responsibilities include advocating, coaching, and supporting clients in both home and community settings. Responsibilities Promote healthy living and prevent illness and accidents. Encourage self‑advocacy and support individual choice and decision‑making. Accompany clients to work, the movies, concerts, shopping, and other community outings. Teach independent living skills. Provide transportation to appointments. Foster positive relationships within the community. Assist with personal care, bathing, and household tasks such as laundry, cleaning, and decorating. Document the care provided. Teach clients about human, legal, and civil rights. Connect clients with resources for education, career, and volunteer opportunities. Promote effective communication. Assist in medication administration where state law allows. Maintain confidentiality at all times. Position Requirements High School Diploma or GED (Preferred for Tennessee). At least 18 years old and a valid driver’s license. Strong conflict‑resolution, decision‑making, and communication skills. Ability to maintain good attendance and confidentiality. Some computer skills are preferred. Ability to escort clients to safe and appropriate outings and commute with a vehicle, if required.
