Job Summary:

The role involves delivering direct nursing care in environments where patients require intricate assessments and interventions, adhering to the established policies, procedures, and protocols of our healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Gather comprehensive information from patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to create a holistic understanding of the patient's needs or condition.
• Analyze and synthesize assessment data to determine relevant diagnoses or conditions for care.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and the interprofessional team to identify optimal outcomes.
• Formulate a plan that outlines strategies and alternatives to achieve desired outcomes, utilizing clinical judgment in partnership with patients, families, and the care team.
• Execute the plan while promoting and maintaining a safe environment, coordinating with patients, families, and the interprofessional team.
• Assess processes and progress towards achieving goals and outcomes.
• Enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, reflecting on personal practice and staying updated with current knowledge and skills.
• Communicate effectively across all practice areas, collaborating with patients, families, and the interprofessional team.
• Employ clinical inquiry and integrate best practices into care.
• Utilize evidence-based practices and scientific knowledge in critical care nursing, ensuring care is tailored to the patient's age-specific and clinical needs as outlined in the department's Scope of Service.
• Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing.

EXPERIENCE

• No prior experience is necessary.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Regularly use speech for oral communication.
• Constantly stand and walk.
• Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing between 0-25 lbs.
• Occasionally lift or move patients and objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Engage in frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry.
• Utilize vision for near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, as well as color differentiation.
• Use smell to identify and recognize odors.
• Employ hearing to receive oral communication and detect alarms or machinery malfunctions.
• Occasionally engage in bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive movements of the legs and arms.
• Occasionally drive.
• Rarely crawl or run.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
• Or one of the following:
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Essentials - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
