Job Requirements

• Active California Nurse Practitioner license required
• Board certification required
• DEA with Schedule II/II-N authority required
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum of 1 year of cardiothoracic surgery NP experience required
• Experience managing cardiothoracic surgery patients in a critical care setting required
• ECMO experience required
• Background in transplantation, critical care, cardiology, or acute care strongly preferred
• Strong clinical judgment and comfort working in a high-acuity hospital environment

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced care for post-operative cardiothoracic surgery patients in the CTICU and acute care setting
• Conduct comprehensive histories, physical examinations, and daily rounds
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies and implement treatments within scope
• Participate in perioperative planning and coordinate care with surgeons, fellows, physicians, APPs, and interdisciplinary staff
• Manage admissions, new consults, discharges, transfers, prescriptions, referrals, and follow-up care
• Assist with removal of chest tubes, pacing wires, IABPs, and arterial sheaths as appropriate
• Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition with a high level of autonomy
• Educate patients and families while helping ensure smooth care transitions
