**Job Title: Ophthalmic Technician**

Our team is expanding, and we are seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Technician to join us in delivering outstanding care to our patients.

Summary

The Ophthalmic Technician plays a vital role in supporting physicians and delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced ophthalmology practice. This position is responsible for obtaining accurate patient histories, performing diagnostic testing, assisting with patient flow, and ensuring a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet patients and prepare them for examination in a professional, courteous manner
• Obtain and document accurate medical and ocular histories, including chief complaint and changes in vision
• Accurately document findings and test results in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies; ensure proper cleaning and calibration of instruments
• Educate patients on testing, procedures, and treatment plans as directed by the physician
• Perform preliminary ophthalmic testing, which may include:
  • Visual acuity testing
  • Auto-refraction and manual refraction (as trained)
  • Tonometry
  • Pupillary assessments
  • Extraocular motility testing
  • Confrontation visual fields
  • OCT, fundus photography, visual fields, and other diagnostic tests as indicated
• Administer ophthalmic drops per protocol
• Assist physicians during patient examinations and in-office procedures
• Adhere to HIPAA regulations, safety protocols and infection control policies
• Collaborate with physicians, technicians, front desk and management to ensure efficient patient flow
• Participate in training, staff meetings, and continuing education as required

Report To Ophthalmic Clinical Manager FLSA Non-Exempt

**Qualifications:**- Certification as an Ophthalmic Technician or a related field is preferred.- Previous experience in an ophthalmic or clinical setting is highly desirable.- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centric approach.- Proficient in using ophthalmic instruments and diagnostic equipment.- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.- Fluent in English and Spanish.
