The position will ideally be in Waterloo or Ottawa, Ontario, but there is flexibility to be based out of other hydrogeology-centered offices. The role will involve managing a multi-discipline scope of work within a team of hydrologists, hydrogeologists, and geochemists and interacting directly with clients. Strong quantitative hydrogeology skills are required with the ability to interact with groundwater modeling and geochemical specialists.Primary responsibilities will involve performing key tasks to support/lead hydrogeology projects or project components.Promote a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in Stantec’s Health, Safety, Security, and Environment ProgramPrepare proposals, develop work plans/budgets and manage projects/tasksDevelop preliminary conceptual hydrogeological models to support field program designDesign and oversee implementation of hydrogeology field investigations, including intrusive investigationsWork with multi-disciplinary teams on baseline and impact assessment projects, feasibility studies, groundwater and surface water assessments, groundwater flow and transport models, and contaminant investigationsPrepare technical reports and client presentations summarizing project work, findings, and recommendations.Perform QA/QC of technical documents/deliverablesTravel as required to various field sites; overnight travel sometimes requiredDemonstrate sound application of established practices, standards, and guidelinesYour Capabilities and CredentialsAbility to meet a strong demand for high-quality, organized, and consistent resultsDemonstrates strong initiative and is capable of independent action with the ability to make informed decisionsExcellent written and verbal communication skills and advanced technical report writing skillsAbility to mentor junior and intermediate staffStrong organizational and time management skills in balancing immediate and long-term work with varying priorities and deadlinesStrong business development, client management, communication, and financial management skills are essentialProficient computer skills are a must, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteValid driver’s license is required for business travelExperience with numerical groundwater flow and transport modeling is considered an assetKnowledge of mine and environmental regulations and policies is considered an assetGeneral knowledge in groundwater chemistry for mine-related projects an assetEducation and ExperiencePost-secondary educational background, ideally M.Sc., specializing in a Geoscience or Engineering program with an emphasis on hydrogeologyMinimum of 20 years of relevant working experience in consulting or regulatory environment, regularly using and analyzing hydrogeologic dataProfessional registration or eligibility is required (P.Geo. or P.Eng.)Valid Driver’s License requiredTypical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Stantec is a place where the best and brightest come to build on each other's talents, do exciting work, and make an impact on the world around us. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
