Requirements Meets New York State Education Department (NYSED) credentialing requirements for paraprofessionals or assistant teachers. Summary The Teacher Assistant (Floater) provides flexible classroom support across multiple grades and subjects to ensure continuity of learning and student success. Working closely with classroom teachers and school leadership, this role supports academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and a positive, inclusive environment. Primary Responsibilities Support classrooms across grade levels and subjects as needed. Assist lead teachers with lesson implementation and classroom management. Provide small-group and one-on-one instructional support. Maintain organized, clean, and welcoming classrooms. Cover classrooms during teacher absences. Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess. Support teachers and school leaders with instructional materials and data collection. Participate in professional development and collaborative meetings. Promote a school culture of respect, empathy, and teamwork.
