Then, use our "Get Started" section to take your first step to being a part of First United.The Senior Internal Auditor role involves executing financial, operational, and compliance audits to enhance risk management and internal controls. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical and critical thinking skills, effective project management skills, and a thorough understanding of GAAP, GAAS, Sarbanes Oxley (SOX), banking, and financial services regulations.## **MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*** Lead operational and compliance audits from planning through reporting and communication with Senior Management.* Apply Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) risk assessment standards and critical thinking for issue identification and root cause analysis.* Draft audit reports and communicate issues with business process owners to ensure timely corrective actions.* Oversee or perform follow-ups on audit findings to confirm effective implementation of management’s corrective actions.* Develop productive relationships with management and stakeholders.* Mentor audit staff in report preparation and documentation of findings and recommendations.* Manage multiple projects and actively participate in fieldwork completion## **Qualifications*** Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.* Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration preferred.* Required audit certifications include CPA, CIA, CFE, or CISA.* 3-5 years of experience in banking or financial services internal audit and/or public accounting.## **Technical and Functional Competencies*** Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for assessing complex compliance and operational processes.* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to interact at all management levels.* Effective project management skills* General understanding of AI and related technology-based techniques.* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.* Leadership skills to supervise, lead, and develop team members.NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
