CTE Aviation Instructor

The staff of the Windham Regional Career Center is a team focused on building a sense of student belonging that leads to student success and improved outcomes. Our confidential administrative assistant is a key member of the team in terms of supporting students and staff. The Aviation Instructor at Windham Regional Career Center will deliver a dynamic and hands-on aviation curriculum that prepares students for careers in the aviation field. The program will include instruction for FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification (drone) and support for FAA Private Pilot License (PPL) ground school preparation. The instructor will teach foundational aviation science, aeronautical decision-making, airspace regulations, navigation, weather, safety, and drone operations, with alignment to Vermont Agency of Education CTE program standards and FAA requirements. Essential Responsibilities: Develop and deliver instruction aligned with FAA Part 107 certification and the knowledge requirements for the FAA Private Pilot License (written exam). Incorporate best practices in project-based learning and Work-Based Learning (WBL) into the aviation curriculum. Utilize tools such as drones, flight simulators, sectional charts, and digital navigation apps to support student learning. Establish a safe and FAA-compliant learning environment, including indoor and outdoor drone operations. Prepare and maintain all necessary instructional materials, equipment, and assessments. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in accordance with Vermont AOE accountability and Perkins V reporting requirements. Collaborate with industry partners, postsecondary institutions, and community stakeholders to enrich program offerings and expand student opportunities. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students on IEPs or 504 plans. Guide students through the Technical Skills Assessment (TSA) process, where applicable. Participate in required Vermont AOE CTE teacher induction and peer review process for licensure. Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain relevant certifications. Experience and/or be familiar with: Vermont's Personalized Learning Plans (PLP) initiatives Vermont's Proficiency-Based Graduation Requirements Common Core State Standards (CCSS) Methods and materials effective in working with high school students
