IT Services- Firewall Engineer Associate

Your work will help enable the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets for clients. Responsibilities Conduct operational engineering activities across the suite of security tools managed in the NIS central service environment. Focus on perimeter security for firewalls (cloud, physical, virtual, WAF), proxies, IPS, and VPN. Perform incident response and resolution, tuning and maintaining solutions, and improving security posture. Lead operational projects and continuously improve processes. Collaborate with infrastructure and design teams to ensure maximum capability of security solutions. Qualifications and Skills High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred. 0–2 years of progressive professional experience in information security and/or IT management. Full‑time experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including building, deploying, configuring, and managing them in an enterprise environment. Experience in networking and firewalls. Proficiency with Azure NSG, Load Balancer, UDR configuration and troubleshooting. Strong troubleshooting and resolution of complex network security incidents, including packet capture, log review, and critical thinking. Stakeholder management skills, ability to set expectations and respond to business needs in a high‑pressure environment. Knowledge of security risk assessment for firewall rule implementations. Understanding of security technology operational industry standards and documentation management. Experience with Palo Alto administration and implementation of best practices. Demonstrated ability to multitask, work independently and within a team, and foster an inclusive and collaborative environment. Preferred certification: Palo Alto Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE). Benefits The salary range for this position is $63,000 – $121,500, dependent on skills, experience, qualifications, and location. Individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. For roles based in Maryland, this is the listed salary range.
