Job Description The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is seeking seasonal Park Ambassadors for the 2026 Summer season in the Boston, North, and South Regions. The role supports high‑profile events such as Tall Ships 2026, Massachusetts 250, FIFA World Cup Watch Parties, and other large‑scale public gatherings. Ambassadors serve as the front‑line presence of DCR, welcoming visitors, providing information, supporting event logistics, assisting visitors of all abilities, and helping maintain clean, safe, and accessible park environments. Responsibilities Serve as a welcoming, knowledgeable point of contact for visitors and provide information on park amenities, events, programs, and policies. Educate the public on “Leave No Trace” principles and the DCR mission of environmental stewardship. Operate light vehicles to transport supplies and equipment between event locations and regional hubs as required by the Supervisor. Assist with crowd management and public safety support, including directing visitor flow, posting and removing signage, promoting safe use of park facilities, and reporting safety, maintenance, or operational concerns. Prepare and support administrative projects, including processing reports, special event applications, and permits. Critical Requirements Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during major statewide and international events. Adaptability to pivot between multiple tasks and locations throughout the season. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; multilingual abilities are a high‑value asset. Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Required Qualifications Minimum age of 18 years. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Ability to work effectively with a diverse population. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Qualifications Ability to speak a second language. Excellent customer service skills. Working Environment and Schedule Primarily working outdoors and in a park setting; walking or standing for extended periods. Variable schedule with work during evenings, weekends, and holidays. One to two times per week reporting to 10 Park Plaza, Boston (DCR Headquarters). Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Required to wear assigned uniform and comply with DCR Uniform Policy. Salary and Benefits Hourly wage: $17.00 (non‑negotiable). This is a short‑term seasonal position with no benefits.
