Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN General)Administers nursing care within scope of practice under the direction of registered nurse, licensed physician, dentist, podiatrist, optometrist, or chiropractor. Responsibilities include administering oxygen, applying sterile dressings, and managing patient care. Inserts catheters, reinserts gastrostomy tubes, and suction irrigation wounds. Gives enemas and collects specimens. Performs dialysis treatments, operates related equipment, and monitors patients during procedures. Assists with physical exams, treatments, and laboratory tests. Provides emergency assistance, including first aid and CPR when necessary. Administers controlled and non-controlled medications and offers medication instructions to patients. Maintains medication accountability records and observes, documents, and reports patient conditions. Prepares and maintains related reports and records. Provides general nursing care and programming assistance, including taking vital signs and assisting with personal hygiene. Responds to patient alarms and makes medical appointments. Orders medication and medical supplies, cleans nursing stations and medication rooms, and performs clerical tasks. Provides assistance and training to lower-level direct care staff as needed.
