Behavioral Specialist (SSC) Position Type: Professional – Licensed/Skilled/Behavioral Specialist Pay Grade: 3 | Shift Type: Full‑Time | Wage/Hour Status: Exempt | Reports To: Executive Director – Special Education Employment Begins: As soon as possible Primary Purpose To work with both students experiencing behavioral challenges as well as model appropriate behavior intervention techniques to staff members. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Master's Degree Valid Texas Teacher Certification Special Knowledge/Skills Understanding of various disabilities and special education law, and strong background in behavior management techniques Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certified Trained in Texas Behavior Support Initiative Experience Demonstrated successful work experience with students exhibiting behavioral needs Strong background in behavior management techniques and effective teaching strategies Experience creating and implementing behavioral intervention plans Skills to assist staff in remediation of disruptive behaviors Strong analytical and organizational skills Effective communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills Major Responsibilities and Duties Working with students experiencing behavioral difficulties Working with teachers struggling in classroom management Perform other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities None Working Conditions Mental Demands: Ability to remain professional and composed in a stressful situation; Use of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Techniques to ensure safety of students and staff members.
