Phlebotomy TechnicianPay Range: $23.11hr - $24.00hrRequirement/Must Have:Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment as required.Minimum of 6 months’ work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.High School Diploma or GED.Responsibilities:Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.Perform decontamination and update patient information.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection clearly and courteously to patients.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.Fully understand all physician orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport.Store specimen samples according to required temperature and place in appropriate collection containers.Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Assist in troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.Skills:Phlebotomy.Venipuncture.Specimen Processing.Centrifugation.Data Entry.Microsoft Office Suite.OSHA Compliance.Butterfly Needles.Straight Needles.Qualification And Education:Phlebotomy Certification.High School Diploma or GED.
