Description

Our client, a manufacturing company specializing in scrap and waste handling systems, is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician to join their growing team in Germantown, WI. This key role will work with a team to assemble a variety of customized trim cutters and material handling fan systems. These products are designed to dispose of paper, foil, light metal, wood pallets, skids, plastic, and other materials using a unique patented "Pierce-and-Tear" shredding concept. This position is located in Germantown, WI, working Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m ., with a pay rate of $24-$27/hour based on experience. Full health benefits are included.

This is truly a unique and engaging place to work. The core of the business focuses on developing innovative solutions to efficiently destroy and move industrial waste out of production environments. The current team of 31 includes ownership, office staff, and shop floor employees. In this role, the Mechanical Assembly Technician will work on a variety of custom projects built to customer specifications. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, works well independently, and is comfortable using a variety of hand and power tools. This position works closely with the engineering team, fabricators, and other skilled shop employees to build and assemble industry-leading equipment. The majority of this role will focus on mechanical assembly (approximately 75%), with the remaining time spent supporting other production areas, including industrial painting and additional shop functions. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys learning new skills, as cross-training is encouraged throughout the shop. Employees also have the opportunity to receive training in welding and plasma cutting as they grow within the organization.

Duties include:

• Perform mechanical assembly of large and small systems, including custom corrugated shredders and material handling fan systems.
• Use hand and power tools to build and fit components to project specifications.
• Operate overhead cranes to unload steel trucks and position large parts for assembly.
• Drill, tap, and spot-face holes; perform thread tapping and hole finishing with drill presses and manual tools.
• Hand-grind parts to remove burrs and prepare surfaces for fit-up.
• Operate a sit-down forklift and overhead crane to move parts and materials.
• Assist with industrial painting and other production tasks as needed.
• Collaborate with fabricators, electricians, and engineers to complete custom builds.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Proficient in the use of hand and power tools
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Industrial painting experience is a plus, but not required
• Experience operating overhead cranes is preferred, but not required
• Familiarity with drilling, tapping, bearings, shafts, and keyways is a plus
• Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. or more
• High school diploma or equivalent required
