You MUST be able to work Saturdays (Sundays during the holidays). Being able to work 9:30-6 at least 2 days a week is a bonus.

Wild Birds Unlimited of NWA is located in Fayetteville (Nelson’s Crossing) and Rogers (Pinnacle) and we are currently looking for our next Retail Associate to wow our customers, share the joy of bird feeding, and provide an exceptional shopping experience. Wild Birds Unlimited is specialty retail store focusing on bird feeding, bird habitat, and backyard nature products.

We’re looking for the right person to become fast friends with our customers. And the hours aren’t too bad either: no early mornings or late nights (store hours are 10 am to 6 pm) and closed on Sundays.

The Opportunity: The primary responsibility of the Retail Associate is to support the look day-to-day operations of the stores and to provide a high energy customer experience. The Associate will report to the Assistant Store Manager and spend their time between our two stores in Rogers and Fayetteville..

Customer Experience:

• Understands that the high energy customer experience is the #1 priority.
• Uses successful selling skills to satisfy the customer and complete the sale.
• Understands merchandising and how to lay out a sales floor for the best shopping experience.
• Demonstrates a positive, enthusiastic, and professional demeanor with a keen interest in getting to know our amazing customers.

Merchandising Experience:

• Creates a unique shopping experience through the strategic layout and placement of merchandise.
• Understands and communicates the store’s merchandise and target products to the customer.
• Assists Management in maintaining adequate inventory levels.
• Orders specific merchandise as requested by Management.
• Unloads seed and merchandise.
• Assists with inventory management in the POS including checking-in, receiving and committing seed and merchandise. Completes the changing of displays, signing and the restocking of seed and merchandise as needed.

Marketing Experience:

• Understands the details of current promotions and events.
• Assists with displays, signing, staffing for upcoming promotions and events.
• Assists in public relations, community talks, and store communication.

Miscellaneous:

• Adheres to all store policies and procedures.
• Responsible for opening and closing the store and the accurate accounting of all cash, checks and charge receipts, bank deposits, club memberships and daily sales summaries.
• Completes accurate and legible paperwork.
• Assists with other duties as requested.

Your Qualifications:

• 3+ years of retail experience, preferably in specialty retail.
• Experience in procurement (ordering materials and back room management) a plus!
• An interest in nature and wildlife would be preferred, but not required (you’ll get thorough training on our products and the hobby of bird feeding and watching).
• Ability to lift and carry 20 lb bags of seed for our customers on a regular basis.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to be on your feet for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to work Wednesdays and Saturdays, and other days throughout the week as needed. Flexibility to work additional days and hours as needed during holiday periods.
