Clinical DietitianProvide competent nutritional care to patients through nutritional assessment, diagnosis, interventions, monitoring, and evaluation of outcomes. Active participant in the interdisciplinary team. Works well in a fast-paced clinical setting. Communicates information effectively to providers, families, and patients in a developmentally appropriate manner. Ensures nutritional information reflects evidenced based practice. Provides training and development to interns, dietitians, and medical staff.Responsibilities:Provide medical nutrition therapy through nutrition assessment, diagnosis, interventions, monitoring and evaluation of outcomes for patientsMay write nutrition orders per medical nutrition therapy protocolServe as a nutrition resource for the hospital, staff, patient, families and the communityDocument nutrition care effectively within medical records and facilitate handoff to different levels of care and care providersDemonstrates critical thinking in clinical practice through patient prioritization, evaluating potential implications of treatment decisions, utilizing resources to guide clinical decisions, and managing time efficiently for time sensitive clinical interventionsCalculate formula recipes for hospital and discharge. Create formula lab and home recipes utilizing hand calculations and electronic application program. Calculate formula concentration and dose additives for hospital and home recipes.Have knowledge of appropriate parenteral nutrition (TPN) management including initiation, advancement, and weaning. Recommend parenteral nutrition macronutrient and micronutrient composition based on disease state.Demonstrate understanding of enteral nutrition feeding types and modalities based on disease state. Identify appropriate formula type, composition, administration, and schedule for patients in the home and hospital setting.Identify and document malnutrition and recommend appropriate interventions based on severity of malnutritionMay review and analyze nutritional lab values and nutrition-related medications/supplement. Communicate recommendations to providers and familiesParticipates in teaching/patient rounds for assigned patients and service areasTrain dietetic interns, clinical dietitians, and medical residents and fellowsProvide clear, effective, and professional communication to patients and family, staff, and communityComplete administrative tasks, such as patient and non patient related phone calls and e-mails, ongoing required competencies, etcAttend various meeting, committee involvement, contribute to projects and give presentationsWork Experience:At least 1 year job category-specific experience PreferredAt least 1 year For End Stage Renal Disease only: minimum 1 year professional work experience in clinical dietetics after becoming a registered dietitian. (Does not include internship experience) RequiredEducation:Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience RequiredGraduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience Master's degree with completion of required coursework and supervised practice as dictated by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) for Dietitians graduating after January 2024 RequiredLicenses and Certifications:State Dietetic License (i.e. LD - Licensed Dietitian) 90 Days RequiredNational Dietetic Registration (i.e. RD - Registered Dietitian) 90 Days RequiredNational Provider Identification Number (NPI) 90 Days RequiredA Place Where You BelongWe put our people first.
