Role Overview

CoStar Group is seeking a Senior Manager, Technical Accounting to be a key member of its Corporate Controller's Organization. This individual will provide technical accounting and reporting research and guidance for financial transactions, support compliance with the Corporation's accounting policies and internal control requirements, analyze proposed accounting standards, support the external financial reporting function, and assist in developing the

corporation's positions on emerging accounting and reporting matters.

This is an individual contributor role that will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders. The successful candidate will combine strong technical accounting expertise, sound professional judgment, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage technical accounting assessments and provide guidance on complex transactions to senior management and key stakeholders.
• Provide ad hoc technical accounting guidance and collaborate with Finance, Legal, Tax, Operations, and other cross-functional teams on internal inquiries and business initiatives.
• Lead M&A technical accounting assessments, collaborating with internal teams and third-party specialists to determine the appropriate accounting treatment. This includes reviewing net working capital, validating closing balance sheets, and preparing purchase accounting journal entries.
• Conduct technical accounting research under U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and statutory accounting frameworks and prepare memoranda on non-routine transactions, including revenue recognition, lessee and lessor accounting, business combinations, segments, stock-based compensation, and other technical topics.
• Prepare financial statements and other financial data for press releases, Audit Committee communications, and supplemental investor information.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes for technical accounting areas, including reviewing journal entries, footnote disclosures, and audit-related tasks.
• Participate in internal and external audits.
• Ensure appropriate accounting control procedures are in place and maintained for technical accounting analyses.
• Stay abreast of emerging accounting standards, evaluate their potential impact on the organization, and support timely adoption and disclosure.
• Develop and lead internal accounting and reporting training courses.

Basic Qualifications

• 9+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• CPA designation required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related business discipline from an accredited, not-for-profit university or college.
• At least five years of experience with a Big 4 or other large public accounting firm, with progression through the Manager level.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including ASC 842, ASC 805, ASC 606, and ASC 360, as well as U.S. SEC reporting requirements.
• Experience performing technical accounting and reporting research and preparing technical accounting memoranda.
• Experience supporting M&A transactions, including related technical accounting documentation and processes.
• Strong understanding of accounting, finance, valuation, and broader business matters.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior leaders, cross-functional teams, external auditors, and other stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and navigate a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Self-starter with a results-oriented, highly organized approach, strong attention to detail, and a sense of urgency.
• Demonstrated ability to influence decision-making and build consensus while balancing technical rigor, business objectives, and risk considerations.
• A track record of commitment to prior employers.

Preferred Qualification s

• Experience applying IFRS in a multinational or cross-border reporting environment, including evaluating differences between U.S. GAAP and IFRS and advising stakeholders on accounting impacts.
• Experience preparing, reviewing, or managing XBRL and Inline XBRL tagging for SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and other periodic reports
• Strong technical expertise in equity instrument accounting, including share-based compensation, equity-classified and liability-classified awards, modifications, valuation considerations, and related disclosures.
• Experience supporting or drafting SEC Proxy Statement disclosures, including equity compensation plans, executive compensation tables, and related narrative discussion.
• Familiarity with governance and Compensation Committee materials and coordination with Legal, HR, and external advisors on equity- and proxy-related matters.
• Ability to leverage AI-enabled tools and automation to enhance technical accounting research, data analysis, and financial reporting preparation while maintaining strong controls and professional judgment.

Compensation

The final salary offered for this role will fall within the range set forth below based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skills, and competencies.

Base Compensation: $150,000 - $185,000 Annual
