Work is performed under the supervision of the principal. Highly qualified teacher of mathematics who works primarily with middle school students who require strategic and intensive intervention in small‑group settings. Essential Responsibilities Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that encourage students to come to school, facilitate active learning, and create an exciting learning experience for students. Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established school‑wide procedures. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment as outlined in student Individualized Education or 504 Plans. Establish efficient classroom management procedures. Weave goals, competencies and learning targets into lesson plans in ways that directly apply to the student’s life. Reach school and course‑wide performance goals for every student in the classroom. Increase educational knowledge and stay up to date on new methods by joining professional organizations, attending continuing education courses and attending regular training sessions for teachers. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and school equipment. Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction. Utilize school district technology and curriculum resources. Administer developmental testing programs and/or subject specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules, procedures, and classroom expectations. Grade papers and homework by regularly providing feedback to keep students updated on how they are doing and to head any problems off before they become a habit. Monitor the progress of individual students and use data to adjust teaching strategies. Offer praise and encouragement to students when they do well and when they are struggling, and teach them that they have the power to do well in school no matter what. Identify students’ needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students resolve learning challenges. Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development. Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings. Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs for full‑cycle learning. Vary teaching methods for whole group, small group, and individual instruction. Attend conferences and workshops to further advance professional development. Prepare the classroom for learning activities. Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds. Demonstrate willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession. Required Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution (Elementary/Secondary). Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, state. Minimum of one subject teaching credential or certification if teaching a specialized subject. Minimum of 0-3 years of teaching experience. Content area certification required for middle school teachers. Displays district’s core attributes. Participate in school and district events. In‑depth knowledge of teaching methods and legal educational procedures. Regular and punctual attendance at the workplace is required for this position. Utilizes and integrates technology to enhance and augment instruction that impacts student learning. Participates in educational technology professional development provided by the district or independently. Performs any additional duties as requested by the building administrator, which are consistent with the effective and orderly operation of this position, and the school‑wide educational goals. Collective Bargaining Agreement Reports To Principal, Assistant Principal, or designated Administrator. Work Year Per Collective Bargain Agreement. Responsibilities (Additional) Demonstrate exemplary classroom math instructional practice and possess a deep understanding of mathematics theory for the purpose of effective best practices to improve student achievement results and close achievement gaps. Preparation of learning materials and lesson plans for other support staff. Work with both special education and regular education students who are not yet demonstrating grade‑level proficiency in math. Deliver instruction in small‑group settings. Develop instructional materials and coordinate the delivery of instruction by support staff. Work in conjunction with the Director of Special Education and members of the Instructional Leadership Team to evaluate student achievement for the purpose of placing students in appropriate intervention and support services. Regularly analyze data from interim assessment and other progress monitoring tools to assess student progress while delivering focused intervention to students. Motivate struggling learners and work to change negative self‑perceptions that some students have about their ability to be good at math. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Valid Certificate to Teach in Illinois.
• Two years or more of classroom teaching experience or equivalent required.
