Veterinary Assistant

At many corporate-owned clinics, a veterinary assistant is often treated as just a clean-up crew or a nameless cog in an assembly line. At The Falls Animal Clinic , we do things differently. We are a privately owned, independent South Florida animal clinic where every team member’s growth is valued. We know that a compassionate, observant veterinary assistant is the absolute heartbeat of a smooth-running clinic and a peaceful patient experience. If you are looking to build a career in veterinary medicine, our practice offers an unmatched opportunity for hands-on, real-world mentorship. You will work directly alongside Dr. Doly Baquero , learning from her 20+ years of clinical experience and USDA-accredited standards in a supportive, family-like environment right here in Palmetto Bay. About the Role: Hands-On Growth & Mentorship As a Veterinary Assistant at our clinic, you won’t just be standing on the sidelines. You will be actively involved in the daily care of our patients, helping us provide honest, cost-conscious, and compassionate Miami-Dade pet care. Key Responsibilities: Compassionate Patient Handling: Assist Dr. Baquero and our veterinary technicians with safe, low-stress animal restraint during exams, treatments, and blood draws. Clinical Support: Prepare examination rooms and surgical equipment, ensuring everything is sterile, organized, and ready for patient care. Hospitalized Patient Care: Monitor the comfort, behavior, and recovery status of hospitalized pets or those waking up from anesthesia, keeping their resting areas clean and comfortable. Laboratory & Diagnostic Prep: Assist with basic in-house lab work, prepare samples, and help set up digital radiographs. Client Connection: Help welcome clients and educate pet parents on basic care plans, post-operative instructions, and keeping local South Florida pests like fleas and heartworms at bay. What We’re Looking For We value a strong work ethic, a gentle touch with animals, and a desire to learn above all else. Passion Over Extensive Experience: While previous experience in an animal clinic is a plus, we are highly willing to train the right person who has a genuine love for veterinary medicine and a positive attitude. Low-Stress Handling Skills: An innate ability to remain calm, patient, and gentle with nervous or frightened cats and dogs. Strong Team Mindset: Excellent communication and organization skills, with a willingness to jump in and support your teammates wherever needed. The Benefits of Joining Our Independent Practice We believe that taking care of our team directly translates to better care for our patients. Our assistants enjoy: Direct Mentorship: Learn medical protocols, patient handling, and clinical skills directly from an experienced, independent veterinarian. Competitive Pay & Growth: A fair wage with real opportunities to expand your responsibilities as your clinical skills grow. Generous Pet Care Discounts: Significant discounts on veterinary care and products for your own beloved pets. Take the First Step Toward Your Future in Vet Med Whether you are looking to gain valuable hours before applying to vet school, pursuing a veterinary technician degree, or simply want to dedicate your career to the welfare of animals, we invite you to grow with us.
