Electrician Apprentice (Re-Announcement)

Electrician Apprentice (Re-Announcement) Assists journeyman electricians in the performance of electrical work in distribution, operation, preventive maintenance, maintenance and repair of the primary electrical systems throughout the entire College campus and various buildings. Duties include troubleshooting and repairing electrical circuits such as distribution panels, transformers, motor control centers, automatic transfer switches, and associated wiring. Responsibilities Assist electricians with troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair duties across campus buildings. Respond to work orders with urgency, document work, and update electronic devices for records. Assist with assembly and installation of conduit, making measurements, cuts, threads, and bends during new installation and repairs. Provide preventive maintenance for electrical equipment according to schedule. Drive state vehicles when transporting supplies and equipment. Maintain electrical equipment and devices associated with boilers, chilled water units, compressors, pumps, solenoid valves, and other control devices. Demonstrate safety knowledge, practice and adhere to safety procedures and OSHA regulations, use PPE, protect work areas, and clean job sites after work. Qualifications High school diploma; basic electrical experience preferred but not required. Willingness to learn installation, preventive and emergency maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair in residential, industrial, and commercial applications. Electrical trade education preferred. Ability to complete records and paperwork for repairs/installations. Valid SC driver’s license (state vehicle transport required). Basic computer skills; use of email, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); on‑line work order systems experience preferred. Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions and work safely. Manual labor capability, work outside in all weather, close quarters, climb ladders, lift up to 50 pounds; overtime and on‑call work required.
