Phlebotomist II

The Phlebotomist II plays a key role in performing blood draws and other specimen collections while supporting daily laboratory operations. This position assists with troubleshooting, training, and workflow improvements to ensure accurate, timely, and safe specimen handling in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Responsibilities:

• Perform venipunctures and blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles with a high level of accuracy and patient care.
• Collect and store blood, urine, fecal, and other specimens according to established procedures and protocols.
• Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture, blood draw, and other specimen collection procedures to patients.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes to ensure proper identification and traceability.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by specific test orders.
• Verify all test requisitions or computer-generated labels against the script or order to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport, following all protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transit.
• Store specimen samples at the required temperature and place them in appropriate collection containers and tubes.
• Follow all procedures outlined by protocol to preserve specimen quality and ensure reliable test results.
• Fully understand and interpret physicians' orders related to laboratory testing and specimen requirements.
• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination tasks as needed to support laboratory operations.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manassas, VA.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
