Job Description

This role involves the competent performance of routine and specialized radiation treatments, adhering to the treatment plans developed by physicians. The incumbent will work independently, exercising sound judgment and utilizing developed clinical skills to ensure safe and precise procedures that yield accurate results in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of radiation therapy and simulation procedures for cancer patients under treatment, following established policies and procedures.
• Maintain and operate complex radiation therapy equipment by documenting readings and ordering necessary adjustments or repairs.
• Complete routine and priority tasks within established departmental time frames.
• Prepare for and assist physicians during various radiation therapy and simulation procedures.
• Educate patients about procedures in a clear and professional manner to alleviate anxiety and foster cooperation.
• Mentor and support students and new therapists, contributing to their development of skills and confidence.

Clerical Duties

• Perform general clerical tasks, including answering phones and updating patient appointments.
• Retrieve, enter, and revise patient electronic health records (EHR).
• Prepare and complete accurate documentation related to patients, procedures, and exam charges.
• Manage inventory and order supplies to maintain established stock levels.

Safety Protocols

• Implement protection devices and safety standards to minimize radiation exposure in accordance with ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment by cleaning and disinfecting equipment post-procedure.
• Inspect and calibrate equipment regularly, recording quality control results, and reporting any malfunctions to the supervisor.

Job Requirements

• Current and valid BLS, AART, CRT certifications required.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in radiation therapy.
• Experience with advanced radiation therapy equipment, specifically TrueBeam.
• Effective communication skills for patient education and team collaboration.

Work Environment

This position primarily involves working with cancer patients in a clinical setting, requiring adherence to safety and care protocols to deliver optimal patient experiences.
