Job Title: CNC Machinist

Job Description

This role offers an experienced CNC machinist the opportunity to support a growing team by producing high-precision, tight-tolerance components to customer specifications. You will set up and operate a variety of CNC equipment, including mills, lathes, and turning centers, while interpreting complex blueprints and maintaining high quality standards throughout the machining process.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines to produce precision, tight-tolerance parts in accordance with customer specifications and engineering drawings.
• Operate CNC mills, lathes, and turning centers to machine components from a variety of materials, ensuring accuracy and repeatability.
• Read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining processes, dimensions, and tolerances.
• Perform CNC machine setups, including tooling selection, fixture setup, workpiece alignment, and verification of correct programs.
• Adjust and maintain machine offsets to achieve required dimensions and surface finishes.
• Monitor machining operations, identify issues, and perform troubleshooting to resolve dimensional, tooling, or machine-related problems.
• Use measuring tools and inspection equipment to verify part dimensions and ensure parts meet tight tolerance requirements.

Essential Skills

• 4+ years of experience operating CNC machines
• 4+ years of CNC machining experience in a production or job shop environment.
• 4+ years of blueprint reading experience, including complex and tight-tolerance drawings.
• Experience performing setups on CNC machines, including mills, lathes, and turning centers.
• Proficiency with CNC turning and CNC lathe operations, including setup and operation
• Strong troubleshooting skills for resolving machining, tooling, and dimensional issues.
• Proficiency in using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision inspection instruments.
• Ability to interpret and work to tight tolerances and detailed customer specifications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 2+ years of CNC lathe experience preferred.
• 2+ years of CNC turning experience preferred.
• Experience performing multiple setups per shift in a job shop or high-mix environment.

Work Environment

This position is based in a machine shop environment, working with CNC mills, lathes, and turning centers as part of a hands-on, production-focused team. The role follows a first-shift schedule. The environment involves working around running machinery, measuring equipment, and typical shop conditions, requiring adherence to safety protocols and appropriate shop attire and personal protective equipment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Champaign, IL.

The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $66560.00/yr.

This is a fully onsite position in Champaign,IL.
