OC Facilities Maintenance is looking for an experienced Plumber to perform journey-level work installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems throughout our facilities. Plumbers are tasked with supporting a 24/7 operation to maintain service at county facilities, including but not limited to, the County Data Center, Registrar of Voters, OC Parks, and Juvenile Detention Facilities. Responsibilities and duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:Installs water, gas, steam and sewer lines, fixtures, valves, gas and water heaters, and other devicesDiagnoses plumbing issues and performs repairs on plumbing and steam systemsPerforms repairs and inspections on backflow preventersCuts and threads pipePlans and lays out alterations and new plumbing systemsDesirable qualifications and core competencies. The ideal candidate will possess three (3) or more years of journey-level plumbing experience working in commercial and/or industrial buildings. In addition, the ideal candidate will also have extensive experience in the following core competencies:Technical knowledge:Principles, practices and methods of the plumbing and steam fitting trades in an industrial and/or commercial environmentTools and equipment used in the plumbing and steam fitting tradesProcedures and equipment used to inspect and test safety devices used on plumbing and steam systemsPerforming journeyman-level plumbing system, fixture installation as well as maintenance and repair workBuilding and safety codesSteam traps, condensate, receivers and pipingSewer and water pumpsAnalytical skills:Read and work from blueprints, schematics, sketches and piping diagramsPerform preventative maintenance on various equipmentFollow oral and written instructionsEffectively communicate and convey ideas to others both orally and in writingAnalyze the work of othersSafety focus:Able to follow applicable building and safety codesSafe work practices relating to the use of plumbing toolsFollow safe work policies and proceduresSafety precautions required to protect personnel and property from damageLicense/certification. Possession of, or ability to obtain prior to appointment, a valid California Driver License, Class C or higher.
