Veterinary Technician

Overview Elk Creek Animal Hospital of Hikes Point in Louisville, Kentucky is hiring a Licensed or Registered Veterinary Technician (LVT, CVT, RVT). The role is full‑time, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:30‑5:30 with Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday off. Salary is negotiable and based on experience and licensure. Responsibilities Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed. Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, fluid therapy, and sample collection. Run in‑house laboratory testing (CBC/chemistry, urinalysis, cytology, feces, etc.). Support surgical and dental procedures (prep, monitoring, recovery, instrument care). Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during procedures. Provide post‑operative care and monitor recovery of patients. Maintain cleanliness and sterility of surgical instruments and equipment. Educate and communicate with clients on patient care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventative care. Accurately document patient care and treatments in the medical record. Collaborate with the team to maintain an efficient workflow and positive hospital culture. Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or equivalent education/training. Proficient in animal handling and restraint techniques. Experience with animal catheterization and administering medications. Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record‑keeping.
