Chief Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly accomplished Chief Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, and delivery of next-generation electromechanical systems. This is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced engineer who remains actively involved in hardware design while guiding engineering teams, technical strategy, and product development initiatives. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities, acting as a true player-coach by driving architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and contributing directly to complex engineering projects from concept through production. Key Responsibilities Lead the mechanical architecture and design of advanced products and electromechanical systems. Own the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from concept generation and prototyping through validation and manufacturing. Perform and oversee detailed engineering analysis, including: Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Structural Analysis Thermal Analysis Vibration Analysis Conduct design reviews and ensure engineering excellence across all development activities. Collaborate closely with electrical, systems, software, manufacturing, and programme teams. Drive prototype development, testing, and product validation efforts. Partner with suppliers and manufacturing teams to optimise product performance, quality, and scalability. Develop technical roadmaps and influence long-term engineering strategy. Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams. Provide technical leadership across multiple projects while maintaining direct involvement in hardware design activities. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (Master's degree preferred). 15+ years of mechanical engineering experience. 5+ years of engineering leadership experience. Proven experience designing and delivering complex hardware products. Strong expertise in: Mechanical Architecture Product Development Electromechanical Systems SolidWorks

Design Reviews Manufacturing Processes Prototype Development Demonstrated hands-on experience performing engineering analysis and simulation. Preferred Industry Background Experience in one or more of the following sectors is highly desirable: Robotics Aerospace Defense Autonomous Systems Counter-UAS Technologies Leadership Experience Building and scaling engineering teams. Hiring and mentoring engineers. Leading cross-functional technical initiatives. Defining and executing engineering roadmaps. Driving innovation while maintaining product delivery excellence. Strong product ownership mindset with the ability to balance strategy and execution. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Portfolio of products, systems, patents, or engineering achievements is strongly preferred. Ideal Candidate Profile Candidates from leading engineering institutions are preferred; however, exceptional candidates from other universities will also be considered based on the strength of their technical achievements, product ownership, and hardware design experience.
