Position Summary

Facilities Management is entrusted with the development, care, maintenance, and operation of Colorado State University’s physical properties. Under the direction and supervision of a Custodian II and / or Custodian III, the Custodian I provides a range of custodial services to building occupants including but not limited to cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, removal of trash and recyclable materials, window and entry glass cleaning, carpeted and hardfloor maintenance including vacuuming, spot cleaning and extracting of carpeted floors and vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, burnishing, stripping and refinishing of hard surface floors.

This custodial pool will be recruiting positions to work either the AM or PM shift.

The AM shift works 5:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday

The PM shift works 4:00 pm - 12:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.

Additionally, there are some PM shifts available that require candidates to pass a Federal Background Check.

Salary: $40,248 - $44,376 annually, + Full Benefits

Job Duties

• Custodial Services: Perform routine custodial services , including but not limited to cleaning, sanitizing and stocking of restrooms, removal of trash and recyclable materials, window and entry glass cleaning, carpeted and hardfloor maintenance including vacuuming, spot cleaning and extracting of carpeted floors and vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, burnishing, stripping and refinishing of hard surface floors.

• Building Access & Security: Provide for building access and security through snow removal services both within the regular Monday through Friday work schedule as well as on weekends as necessary and through daily unlock and lock up services.

• Athletic and University Events: Provide custodial support for athletic and university events campus-wide both within the regular Monday through Friday work schedule as well as on week ends when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must demonstrate in the application materials:

• Six months of custodial services experience in an institutional or commercial environment.

Preferred Qualifications

The highly desired candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, personal characteristics, and experience directly related and critical to this position:

• Experience operating and/or maintaining basic custodial tools with very little supervision.

• Experience with the operation and use of vacuum cleaners, carpet extractors, wet/dry vacuums, floor scrubbing and/or polishing machines, buffing and/or other related cleaning operations.

• Experience with snow removal.

• Ability to utilize computers and other electronic mobile devices for business needs and team communication.

• Strong customer service skills.

• Directly related state service experience.
