Warehouse Specialist

This position involves the receipt, processing, validation, destruction, and payout of currency and coin within a highly controlled, regulated, and secure environment. The role demands strict adherence to defined rules, regulations, and procedures. This is a physically demanding role that requires standing for long periods, handling heavy materials, and maintaining excellent attendance.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate high-speed currency equipment and handle the receipt and payment of currency and coin to depository institutions.
• Balance deposits, process financial transactions, and manage inventory using specialized accounting and operating systems.
• Follow all procedures with precision in a constantly surveilled environment.
• Obtain and maintain counterfeit detection certification through regular testing and manual inspection.
• Transfer, store, and maintain custody of significant values of currency and coin using material handling equipment.
• Identify and report any procedural exceptions or equipment issues to the management team.
• Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team environment and perform basic mechanical troubleshooting on currency verification machines.

Required Qualifications

Education: Knowledge normally acquired through the completion of an associate degree or equivalent work experience.

Experience: A minimum of 1-3 years of related work experience. Working knowledge of the Treasury Currency Operations Manual (TCOM), Custody Control Principles and Standards (CCPS), and internal District Cash Procedures.

Skills:

• Proficiency in math, balancing, and general accounting.
• Familiarity with MS Office applications.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to follow directions precisely.
• Excellent attendance and punctuality are imperative for this role.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to repeatedly handle items weighing up to 40-60 pounds.
• Ability to push heavy containers and material handling equipment weighing up to 800 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic 10-key skills are preferred.
