Location Highlights

Alamosa, Colorado offers access to notable outdoor destinations and a quieter San Luis Valley setting. Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve is about 35 miles northeast of Alamosa, and the Alamosa National Wildlife Refuge sits about 8 miles south of the city for birding and wildlife viewing. The Rio Grande Scenic Railroad operates from downtown Alamosa, and the city is home to Adams State University, which adds local arts, events, and college-town amenities.
